Rebekah Phillips
Rebekah has cystic fibrosis which is an incurable and progressive disease. In 1978, doctors said that she would not live past the age of 13. Medical research, dedicated doctors and the power of prayer have helped Rebekah achieve her life-long dream of graduating from college and becoming a teacher. Rebekah is a 2002 graduate of University of North Texas. She praises God daily!
Rebekah is an avid reader and enjoys writing. Marilyn and Rebekah co-authored a children’s book, PRINCESS, about a little girl who has cystic fibrosis. Also, she is co-author of CHEERING FOR CHRIST ALWAYS: 101 Devotions for Christian Cheerleaders of America which has encouraging devotions and is sold at Christian Cheerleaders of America Cheer Camps and on amazon.com.
Rebekah wrote an inspirational book called A Breath with God: My battle with Cystic Fibrosis. This book has over 50 Scripture references and encourages anyone with diseases to daily focus on God. Rebekah has an article published on pages 380-381 in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tough Time, Tough People titled “ Living Well with God and CF."
Rebekah Phillips was a high school cheerleader for two years at Temple Christian School. Her team won first place at Christian Cheerleaders of America (CCA) Camps both years. She was also co-captain of the dancing drill team. Rebekah’s life is a tremendous testimony to her faith in God. She was the guest speaker at the CCA National Competition in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After Rebekah gave her testimony sharing how God has helped her deal with Cystic Fibrosis, she received a standing ovation from over 450 cheerleaders who were there to compete. Rebekah gained national recognition when she was chosen from high school cheerleaders across the nation to receive the prestigious Rianne Ellisa Scrivner Christian Cheerleader Courage Award for displaying outstanding courage in the face of extraordinary trials. Rebekah is vivacious and truly incredible.
