Marilyn Phillips is a cum laude graduate of Texas Woman's University with a degree in education. She taught elementary school for many years. Marilyn was the high school cheerleader coach for three years at Temple Christian School in Ft. Worth, Texas, and has served on the Advisory Board of Christian Cheerleaders of America. Marilyn is a breast cancer survivor and praises God for the journey! She has recently retired from teaching and enjoys writing books and inspirational articles. Marilyn lives in Bedford, Texas, and has been married to Nolan since 1972. Her husband graduated from Texas Tech and is a recently retired engineer. Nolan has taught adult Bible study classes for over forty years. They have two grown children, Bryant and Rebekah.

In addition, Marilyn co-wrote three devotional books for Christian Cheerleaders of America including: Cheering for Eternity, God Speaks to Cheerleaders, and CHEERING FOR CHRIST ALWAYS: 101 Devotions for Christian Cheerleaders of America.
Six students helped Marilyn write the book, Fort Worth Kids’ View. Authors were interviewed on TV affiliates of ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX. They received a letter from President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. The authors also received congratulatory letters from 30 state governors.
Marilyn has had numerous articles published in national magazines including Guideposts, Obadiah, Home Life, Parent Life, and Living with Teenagers. Eight book contributions include Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tales of Christmas, Chicken Soup for the Soul: True Love, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Christmas, Living By Faith, Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Gift of Christmas, God Allows U-Turns: American Moments, God Allows U-Turns, and Chicken Soup for the Surviving Soul.
